Smell is one of our strongest senses, capable of changing our mood and making us recall memories that we thought that we lost years ago.
Cinnamon can trigger memories of my dad in the kitchen making his famous Christmas candy and the smell of a campfire brings me back to memories of my mom's beloved camper and that slow paced summer.
The power of smell is an incredible one, for better or for worse.
I have very sensitive allergies. That paired with my negative reactions to allergy medication can put me in a tough spot when I come in contact with many scents. I have been on a very long, pricey journey trying to find the perfect scent for me.
Sustainability minded, it hit me around a year ago to try and search for that elusive "perfect scent" on a local level. With a few strokes of some keys and the click of a mouse, I found what would be the best search I have ever conducted.
Wild Mountain Soap Company popped up as being one of the closest to me. A few clicks on social media sites, a quick map lookup, and I was on my way. I was greeted with a swirl of scents that made me slightly nervous to enter the store. However, the warm smiles that greeted me made me give it a shot. Usually within a few minutes in stores like it my allergies kick in, my nose starts to run, and my head begin to ache. I found none of this happening within the store.
I was asked if I needed help and I explained that I believed I was looking for a citrus scent since I have found those work best for me. The lady I talked to was looking over the store that Sunday but was more than happy to give her daughter a call to pinpoint the correct scent.
Within a minute I was directed to the scent that would make me fall in love. "Energy" was the suggestion I was given, making it one of the best ones I have ever received! It's like a cup of coffee for my sense with every use and spray.
I have taken the past few months to use the spray, sugar scrub, and bath bombs I picked up to really put them to the test.
Foaming Sugar Whip
By far my favorite product, the Foaming Sugar Whip is a staple in my routine. Whether I use it for a quick scrub or as a shaving cream, it always leaves me more awake coming out of the shower than when I went in. It's coarse enough in the beginning to rid my body of the dead skin cells but soon turns into a soft foam that allows me to clean. It leaves skin soft after use and doesn't irritate.
The ingredients in this product are as follows: Coconut Oil, sugar, Safflower Seed Oil, Sesame Seed Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Olive Oil, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Fragrance Oil.
Now, down to the nitty-gritty. How did the product perform over time?
Amazingly. Nothing in it aggravated my sensitive skin, it didn't dry the skin out, there's no gritty or sticky feeling after use, and it stays consistent over time. Definitely worth a try!

Body Spray
With my favorite scent mixed in, this spray is an everyday product for me. A spray of a morning helps me stay awake and a few throughout the day keeps me that way.
Over a period of time the scent didn't wane, there is no icky feeling wherever sprayed, and no skin irritation.
The ingredients are as follows: Purified Water, Polysorbate 80 (used in cosmetics to create solubility between water and oil), EDTA, and Fragrance.
Overall, I love this product. It's a boost every time I spray it and the bottle lasted quite a while.
As with all body sprays, make sure that you shake before each use.

Honestly, I would love to sit here and tell you that I have more self-control than I do. I fully planned on having pictures of the bath bombs but I got a little too excited and used them before I could even remember to take them. I felt like a new person after, as they made my skin soft. As an added bonus there was not any residue left over in the bathtub or extra cleanup involved, as with most bath bombs I have tried.
