This time of year the bells ring, the students file in and teachers start introductions. It's also the start of a lot of new products entering the halls. Both teachers and parents fill the classrooms with supplies that will be used throughout the year. Sparkly backpacks are stuffed with freshly sharpened pencils, fresh stacks of loose leaf paper, and boxes of new markers.

However, the newness of these items soon fade. Pencils get lost, paper dwindles, and the markers become dry. Those markers are often sent to their second-to-last final resting place, a shoebox. That shoebox is overlooked for one year, or sometimes a decade, and tend to finally find their end...in the trash.

Crayola is wanting to change the final resting place of markers by offering an incredible service. Crayola ColorCycle is a program directed at K-12 classrooms. Crayola wants to start the conversation between teacher and student about the importance of eco-friendly practices. There are special lesson plans available to get the ball rolling.

All one must do is inform your administrators and sign up your school. A collection box or bin can be set up in the classroom and used throughout the year. After it is filled the markers simply go into a cardboard box that will be mailed using a print off label from Crayola. FedEx then comes to pick it up with all shipping charges on Crayola.

And that's it.

It's truly one of the easiest ways to incorporate the topic of recycling as well as the feeling of doing something good for the planet into the classroom. Educators, simply click here to learn more! When you are ready to get started just click here. Finally, when you are ready to replenish your supplies for your classroom buy in bulk by clicking here!
